STORY BEHIND THE PAINTING

This is a self-portrait of the artist encouraging his son while learning to use a lariat as a child. Despite being old subject matter, this painting was painted in 2025 while Boren was in retirement. 

FRAMING

Nelson mounts the art on masonite or Gatter board and instead of using a glass cover, he varnishes the painting using a very high quality clear and durable pro vanish that doesn’t yellow. It works great and takes care of the glass glare and makes shipping easier and safer. Clients may also choose to have it shipped in a reinforced tube so they can frame it as they like.
